Senior Electrical Engineer

ASI Materials is seeking a Electrical Engineer (EE), who will be responsible for current and new product design, analysis, and overall hardware development for a new class of electrical and thermal materials with state of the art control systems for industrial and consumer markets. The candidate must be a proven self-starter with a “get it done” attitude, have effective communication skills, and an overall aptitude and willingness to be able to work in the sometimes chaotic and rapidly changing environment of a tech start-up.

The initial effort could be part-time with the goal of full-time, as well as equity participation in the new venture.

Job Description
The Electrical engineer or Hardware Development Engineer will own design and development of electrical/hardware systems. The ideal candidate will also have experience in complex electrical system design and the ability to collaborate with mechanical, optical, thermal and safety requirements. Additional work and coordination with outside suppliers and partners is expected. Develop new electrical subsystems for ASI Materials product set that supports overall product specifications, performance goals and meets regulatory requirements. In addition, the EE will Interact regularly with other engineering teams to ensure product design proposals take into account constraints from manufacturing, safety, materials and cost.

The ideal candidate is a jack of all trades with a diverse portfolio of built work spanning multiple disciplines and demonstrates a thorough understanding of complex electrical, power, sensor (IoT) systems, and materials. Experience in entrepreneurship/consulting, aerospace and/or consumer electronics are a plus. Most importantly, you must have a positive “can do” attitude, play well with others, embrace a challenge, and realize that every failure is a critical step toward creating innovative products.

Responsibilities

– Conduct materials, technology, and process research to develop products that achieve performance requirements
– Perform simulation, testing, and analysis of product iterations.

Requirements
– 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying electronics systems and solutions
– Experience with thermal engineering applications, especially Joule heating
– Hands on experience with measurement and test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc)
– B.S. Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics or closely related degree with 5+ years of industry experience in schematic design, layout, fabrication and test
– Expertise with compact power management and distribution circuits and budgeting of low power wireless portable devices
